  -  Blog   -  Creative Sparks from the Park

Lately, I’ve been totally drawn to oil pastels. There’s something magical about their vibrant colors and smooth, buttery texture as they glide over the paper. Experimenting with them is pure joy—layering, blending, scratching, and watching unexpected results come to life.

What started this new creative spark? Trimmed palm trees. They might seem like nothing special, just part of the usual park routine. But to me, their fresh colors, distinct shapes, and textures had a charm I couldn’t ignore. Before I knew it, they inspired an entire sketchbook filled with oil pastel sketches.

It’s been so exciting to dive into this new medium and see where it leads. Who knew something as simple as trimmed palms could bloom into so much creativity?
